Hello, world!

Getting back to blogging after a Transatlantic move with the family (including two demanding kids), turned out to be more DEMANDING / TESTING / CHALLENGING / NERVE-WRECKING / BACK-BREAKING... than I thought. Hey, for us it was the first move with kids and more than two suitcases. My stash alone required twelve large boxes I am ashamed to admit. But I love our new (nicer!) house, I even got a room only for sewing and crafts, I even started working on a few projects,.. but no blogging. No idea why! I would wake up every morning with blog post ideas, but then, when I got to computer, all I could say was 'Hello, world'...

Anyway, the blogger block is over, friends. So here I am! My room is still an unorganized mess, but, hey, look, I am working! And to give you some visual satisfaction, here are pics of my not-yet-so-glorious workroom/ studio.

If you are interested I can share some room-organization-in-progress (I love peeping into other people's workrooms!), as I intend to

  • hang up my thread organizers
  • install mood board tiles
  • organize stash
  • set up my embroidery station
  • unpack my Babylocks
  • find place for arts and crafts supplies
  • hang curtains (and make them before hanging)

I am now wondering, readers, whether that's really all...  oh no, I also got to hang up some artwork, and my favorite poster from the Metropolitan... wish me luck - I have been trying to hit 'Publish' for a couple of minutes now! Phew...

  1. You're back! Last winter I read your blog from cover to cover and you inspired me to start sewing again (and even start blogging). No need to hesitate with that Publish button, we want to read it ALL! The setting up of your new sewing room, adventures in Cyprus and your long missed couture projects, looking forward to reading your updates!

  2. I'm so glad your back! I have missed you. When I got back to sewing I found your blog and read it from start to finish. You even helped me with a few projects. So glad to see you back again with whatever you have to say. It is just nice to see you back on the scene again :)

  3. How lovely to hear from you again. I am by no means anything of a professional, but DO enjoy quality and therefore sewing with couture techniques. Susan Khaljes Craftsy class got me hooked and I subsequently found a whole like-minded community with, a.o,. your blog. Your own projects are inspiring and your information useful, so please don't feel shy! If sewing subjects are not the thing of the moment, I'm sure we'd all love to hear about your life in Cyprus.

  8. I just found your blog and I'm anxious to get aquainted. I've recently returned to sewing after many years away. Moving with kids is rough. We moved all over the US when our kids were growing up. I remember our sons 3rd grade year in school. It was in 3 states. It sounds like you survived and created memories along the way:) Your sewing/crafty room looks great.

  18. 12 boxes . . . .
For the first 20 years of our marriage, my husband and I moved, on average, every 2 years. No, not military . . . he just had a bad case of Wandering Foot. Let me tell you, that is a very effective method of fabric-stash-reduction. Maybe not good, but effective!!! Then we bought a house and stayed there for 13 years. We both accumulated craft supplies. And tools. Then we moved again . . . all I can say is, thank the good Lord we did not have small children, and did not move across an ocean . . . . I take my hat off to you , dear lady.
And, yes, I think pictures of how you set up your studio would be very interesting!

  22. So glad to see you back, Marina! You've been much thought of and missed, and it's good to see you are doing well :) Moving is so stressful under normal circumstances... I can't even imagine what it would be like moving to another continent, and with kids too!! Your workspace looks lovely so far; I'm sure it will become a place where amazing things come to life - and I look forward to seeing what they are! ^__^ Thanks for sharing and continuing to be an inspiration :)
